About Course

Independent learning has many benefits, not least helping learners to take ownership and control of their learning. But how do we create the conditions for independent learning? And how can we help learners to realise that they have the power to learn and work independently? Join Mike Gershon as he answers these questions and more, helping you to reflect on and develop your existing classroom practice, and giving you the tools you need to start your journey towards learner independence.

What Will You Learn?

  • To be able to identify the key facets of independent learning and to be able to explain the teacher’s role in embedding these across lessons.
  • To be able to critically analyse your own teaching, identifying the extent to which it promotes independent learning and what opportunities there are for modifying and refining your approach.
