About Course

Self-perceptions – the ways learners think about themselves – have a huge impact on how learners behave and react in different situations. When it comes to promoting learner independence, we need to take time to consider how learners are thinking about themselves, what beliefs they have about who they are, and what they think is possible when it comes to learning.

Join Mike Gershon as he takes you on a journey through learners’ mindsets and helps you to identify the barriers that can stand in the way of learners becoming truly independent.

What Will You Learn?

  • To understand how learner self-perceptions can influence attitudes to independence in both positive and negative ways.
  • To be able to suggest multiple practical strategies you can use to help learners develop a positive mindset towards independence, including how these can be applied to lesson planning.
