Biography
Dr Roman Puchkov is a Director of Learning and Senior Lecturer at the CIM and has more than 20 years of work experience including teaching and academic leadership roles with British Universities including Birkbeck University of London, University of Sunderland, University of Suffolk and Wrexham Glyndwr University as well as in private alternative education providers in UK. Over the past two years he has beenbased in Cyprus and held associate roles with the University of Nicosia and The Cyprus Institute of Marketing. Roman is also an invited lecturer on MBA programmes at The National University of Science and Technology in Moscow, Russia, and The Kazakhstan Nuclear University in Almaty. Prior joining academia, in 2003-2008 Roman worked for UK Government Department for International Development (UKAid) where he was responsible for managing multi-million technical assistance projects and policy advice focusing on energy and economic reform in transition economies. Roman started his career back in 1998 in a management consultancy in UK, White Young Green International, working closely with the World Bank, IMF and private clients in restructuring mining enterprises. His long-term international project assignments overseas included China, Mongolia, Russia and Ukraine. Roman’s specialisation is in energy markets, mining economics, shipping economics and business strategy development. Roman graduated from the University of Nottingham with his first degree in Economics with EU Studies and had obtained his postgraduate qualifications from London South Bank University. He completed his PhD in Industrial Economics and areas of his quantitative research remain in global energy consumption. Roman is a Fellow Member of UK AdvanceHE (formerly Higher Education Academy) as well as numerous professional organisations. He is research active with a proven record of publications and often invited as keynote speaker at international and national conferences.
